Remove the plastic container from a plant, and you will find roots circling. Root circling is bad for plants. It stunts growth. With Smart Pot aeration fabric containers, roots reach the fabric side and stop. Then they send outside roots instead of circling. Hello Todd,
Yes, over time small roots will tack into the ground and pull moisture and nutrients, but remember, the ground is a fabulous filter! I assume you are at least 3-4 feet away from your neighbors system? If you are worried about it, we suggest a tray or tarp under your Smart Pot.
Also, a Smart Pot is made to be moved! You can move your Smart Pot to just about anywhere in your yard and your plants will thrive!

Love the handles. They don’t rip off and I drag the pots to reposition them
Love these bags! Currently have garlic, dwarf tomatoes growing. They are doing well! The plants don’t get root bound like in other pots.
We use these as inserts inside larger containers. Allows us to see the water level in the container.
My garden space is small so using Smart Pots has allowed me to double the amount of veggies I can grow. The pots fit nicely on my front pathway, and along my driveway. I love the colors and opt for the handles so I can easily move my plants all season. One of the best investments I’ve made for my garden!
